The scent of Roses - 庭便り

もうすぐバラの季節も終了です。手前のオレンジのバラはJude The Obscure。グアヴァの匂いがします。もう一方の赤バラはWilliam Shakespeare 2000。４年目にしてやっと咲いてくれた２種類のバラ。やっぱりバラの匂いは好いもんですね。
It is nearly the end of the Rose season this year. The pale orange one is called Jude The Obscure. This one has a fragrance of Guava. The red one is called William Shakespeare 2000. These two varieties have been sitting in the garden without blooming properly for the last 4 years. Well, the scent was worth waiting for after all!

Kew Garden - キュー・ガーデンへ行きませんか？

ブルーベルの季節です。来週にでもキュー・ガーデンへ行こうかと考えています。どなたかご一緒しませんか？
The time has come! It is English Blubell time. I am debating when to go to Kew Garden...maybe next week. Anyone interested?

The Savill Garden -春の公園

先日、サリー州にあるサビル・ガーデンで春の景色に出逢いました。まだ柔らかすぎる陽射しの中、クロッカスとラッパ水仙が太陽のように光っていました。新しい季節は、間違いなくそこまで来ています。

I went to The Savill Garden in Surrey the other day, and found some Spring lights. Daffodils and Crocus were so bright、just like the Sun. The new season is just round the corner now.

A Sign of Spring - Violets - 春の足音-におい菫

バレンタインデーが近づいてくると、バラのプルーニングが頭をよぎります。というわけで庭へ出ると、足元に咲くのはにおい菫。大きな公園では芝刈り機で刈られたりするのですが、ここでは，まあすくすくと育ってくれています。

春も，もうすぐなのでしょうか？

As aproaching to St. Valentine's Day, something starts shouting at the back of my mind; to prune roses. Hence, I walked out to the chilly morning garden, and found some Violets on a garden corner. They are savagely mowed as well as lawn and Daisies at some big gardens, but they are spreading like mad here.

Is this a sign of Spring?

Buddleja davidii - 植物のしたたかさを感じたのは。。。

いつも御世話になっているのが，テムズ川を南に渡ったところにあるVauxhall駅。市場へ向かう途中の、半分寝ぼけた目と頭を，はっと一瞬にして覚ましてくれたのがこの風景です。Buddleja davidiiは，この季節ロンドンのあちこちで見かける事が出来る花ですが，まさかこんなところでお目にかかれるとは、、、。足元もしっかりせず、根を張る場所も限られながら、一生懸命に、そして無心で咲いていました。なんだか、元気をもらった朝の一コマです。
Vauxhall tube station is on the south of Thames river in London. As you know, I do not have a car, I use tube to get to the flower market. This Vauxhall station is the one I travel to if I use tube. Normally, I am walking towards the market with my half sleeping eyes and brain. But the other day, I was pleasantly awaken by these flowers. Buddleja davidii is a quite common plant in London, especially this time of year, they are all over the place. Bu, I was not expecting to see them here... Not much space to grow, and limited amount of soil, these were just blooming, with no ego. What a blissful moment. They gave me so much energy and smile.

Tulip under the Blue Sky - 陽だまりのチューリップ

市場に並べられるチューリップも素敵ですが，青空の下に咲くチューリップは、また格別の美しさです。I adore those Tulips bunched up in the market, but those Tulips blooming under the Spring sun shine are something else!

Just like Sunshine - 花瓶の中の太陽

。。。っていうか，目玉焼きみたいですか？先日の教室で，容子さんからいただいた花です。夜の教室で太陽のように光っていて、見とれてしまい、元気をもらい、気持ちが温かくなり、寒い帰り道も気になりませんでした。菊はあまり好きではないという声をよく聞きますが、本当に良い花なんですよ。シャキッとする匂いも好きなんです。Well...I know it looks rather like fried eggs. Yoko kindly gave me this lovely Chrysanthemum the other day in the class. It was shining like the Sun in the evening class, I could not keep my eyes off from it, it brought me such positive energy, provided me with warm feeling, hence, I was happy walking down the cold evening London street after the class. I know some people are anot crazy about Chrysanthemum, but it really IS a nice flower! I also love that clean scent.

Vanda 'Black Magic' - マーケットの花便り

市場の片隅に並べられた白い箱。その中で妖しく咲いていたのが、バンダ。朝の市場から、熱帯の森へと想いが飛んだ瞬間です。Array of white boxes on the dusty floor, in the market, Vanda was hiding its face in those boxes.A savage bewitcher. A moment of magical transportation from cool market on the south of Thames River to intensely humid tropical forest.
