Flower Festival at Hampstead - ハムステッドでのフラワーフェスティバル

花のアレンジメントクラスでは、素敵な作品が毎週たくさん生まれています。自分で選んでデザインした作品には、それぞれの想い・考えがこめられています。家に持ち帰る道すがら、通りすがりの人々から声をかけられることもしばしばとの事。これらの想いの詰まった作品をもっと多くの方にも見ていただきたいという事で、この度、花の展示会を開かせていただくことになりました。

　（９日の日曜日は戦没者を追悼する特別ミサが１１：００より開かれます）

教室を行なっているいつもの教会ですが、普段は一般には公開されていません。教会見学とハムステッドヒースの散歩もかねて、是非おいでになりませんか？

We have been seeing so many beautifully designed flower arrangements week after week at the class. So much thoughts and emotions are poured into each design, people on the street quite often start asking about these arrangements on their way home. I always wished that these designed to be enjoyed by many more people... and, now, we are delighted to announce the Flower Festival!

Joint Demonstration ー ジョイント・デモンストレーション

先日、生け花の芳野敬子先生のお誘いで一緒にデモンストレーションをさせていただく機会をいただきました。同じ花材を使って、生け花とフラワーアレンジそれぞれの可能性を探っていくと面白いかも。。。と言う芳野先生の一言
から始まったこの企画。１時間あまりの時間でしたが、それぞれ５作品づつを完成。芳野先生の楽しいお話しに助けられ無事楽しく終了しました。

Ikebana Master Keiko Yoshino has kindly invited me to join her flower demonstration the other day at her Ikebana exhibition. "It would be very interesting to apply each Ikebana and Flower Arramnging elements to the same flower material. Don't you think?" This comment from Keiko started this joint demo after all. We had just over an hour to complete 5 designs each. With Keiko's informative talk, the whole project went well, and it was a great project.

Europa Cup 2007 Joze Plecnik, Architect - ヨーロッパ・カップ2007 建築家 Joze Plecnik

ヨーロッパカップ二日目の最初の課題は、建築家Joze Plecnikをデザインを通して表現するという課題でした。与えられたのは二時間。出来上がった作品群はどれも個性的で、息をのむ美しさです。
The first task of the 2nd day at Europa Cup 2007 was about an architect Joze Plecnik. After 2 hours of very intensive and well planned work, every competitors completed breath takingly beautiful and individual works.

Europa Cup 2007 Wedding Bouquet - ヨーロッパ・カップ2007 ウェディング・ブーケ

ヨーロッパカップ初日は、合計で３つの作品作製が求められました。長靴下のピッピのテーマの次には，ウェディングブーケの作製です。今回の花のテーマはカーネーションだったようです。与えられた一時間は瞬く間にすぎていきました。
There were 3 tasks to be made on the 1st day at Europa Cup 2007. After completeing Pippi's Feast, the nexttask was 'Wedding Bouquet'. The themed flowers seemed Dianthus. Its allocated 1 hour slot went so quickly!

Europa Cup 2007 - ヨーロッパ・カップ 2007

開催されたのは、Sloveniaにある Velenjeという人口3万人ほどの街。電車の駅もこんな感じで、なんだか自分の田舎を思い出させてくれました。（この駅の駅長さんには、実は大変に御世話になったのです。）
It was a town called Velenje in Slovenia. Its population is about 30.000, and is surrounded by beautiful mountain and kind people. This is Velenje station, which reminded me of my local station in Japan. (Asa matter of fact, I was saved by this station and a gentleman who was in charge of this station on that day. Thank you very very much for your kindness and generousity! I should have asked his name...)


会場は街にあるスポーツ施設，The Red Hall。 スロベニア語で書いてありますが，赤いカーネーションが今大会の目印です。
The Red Hall was the venue for Europa Cup 2007. ????? It was written in Slovenian, but this big red Carnation is the sign forthis year's event!




初日の最初の課題は、"（長靴下のピッピ）Pippi's Feast"。10：00の開場とともに、ヨーロッパ20カ国からやって来た各国の代表がもモクモクと作業を始められました。
The first task was 'Pippi's Feast'. The doorwas open at 10:00, and all the florists from 20 European countries started working towards their designs.

ずーっと楽しみにしていたヨーロッパ・カップ。待ちに待ったイベントは，気になる事がたくさんあり，とても実りの多い旅になりました。これから少しづつですが，このイベントで見た事をお伝えできればと思っています。
I had been really really looking forward to this Europa Cup 2007. It was full of surprise, some issues I faced, new and inspiring ideas and genuine smile on people's faces. I am hoping that we can share some moments from this even here.

Kew Garden - キュー・ガーデン

花の教室の仲間達と，キューガーデンのオープン・イブニングに出かけてきました。ワイルドフラワーで埋め尽くされた草原、テムズ川の向こうに見えたサイオンパークの建物、家路を急ぐ鳥達と暗がりにぼんやりと浮かびたつバラに囲まれて、本当に短い時間でしたがピクニックを楽しんできました。夕暮れにとけ込むように咲く草花はいつもと違う表情で、子供の頃、道草をして暗くなって来た田んぼ道をとぼとぼ歩いた事を思い出させてくれました。それにしても，夕暮れ時の花の匂いはちょっと違います。
ご一緒していただいた皆さん，楽しい時間を本当にありがとうございました！
With some of my colleagues from the Flower Arrangement classes, we visited Kew Garden Open Evening. There were a field of wildflowers, a view of Syon Park over the Thames, many birds flying back to their sweet homes, and some roses glowing like a torch in the dusk. Although it was rather brief,of course, we had some nice picnic among them! Flowers after the sunset looked much quieter with the cool breeze, and they reminded me of how I used to walk back from the school through a vast rice field. Anyway, have you notice the difference in flower scents in the evening?
